NOTICE
FOR ADMISSION TO M. Tech. & Ph. D Programme (2009)
B.I.T. Sindri is a premier technical institution established in 1949 and located in
the industrial hub of Sindri and Dhanbad. This is the only institute under the
administrative control of Department of Science and Technology, Government of
Jharkhand providing U.G., PG and research in various disciplines of Engineering. The
Institute is fully residential in nature providing residential facilities to all its students as
well as teaching and non–teaching staff. It has a wide 450 acre campus with a sound
infrastructure and numerous buildings presenting a spectacle of architectural delight
and natural beauty. Students getting M. Tech. degree are also given opportunities for
CAMPUS Placement.
Applications are invited for admission to M. Tech. programme of the Institute in
Mechanical , Electrical, Metallurgy, Chemical and Civil Engineering for the session
commencing from July, 2009 and the Ph. D (Engineering) programme in the various
engineering disciplines and interdisciplinary area beginning July, 2009.
The following are the specializations for M. Tech. in various disciplines of engineering.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with a valid GATE score with B.E. /B. Tech or equivalent for
M.Tech. programme and M.E./ M.Tech. or equivalent for Ph.D programme degree in
respective discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent C.G.P.A ( in case of
SC /ST the minimum marks of 55% or equivalent C.G.P.A) from recognized University/
Institute, are eligible to apply in prescribed format.
Candidates possessing above qualifications and having valid GATE score will be
entitled for monthly stipend as per the A.I.C.T.E. / Government approved norms. If seats
are not filled up with GATE qualified candidates for M. Tech programme, other
candidates may also be considered without monthly stipend.
How to Apply:
Application forms are available on the institute website www.bit.sindri.ac.in. which can
be downloaded for making application. Application form must accompany a Demand
Draft of Rs. 500=00 (Five hundred only) for all except the candidates belonging to SC
and ST category. Candidates belonging to SC and ST category should attach the
demand draft for Rs. 300=00(Three hundred only). The demand draft should be made in
favor of The Director, B.I.T. Sindri payable at S.B.I. B.I.T, Sindri (Branch code – 11812).
The employed candidates should send their applications through their employer.
However, an advance copy of the application may be submitted for admission. The
admission will be subjected to the submission of the No Objection Certificate at the time
of interview from his / her employer in the format prescribed in the application form.
Separate application must be sent for each programme.
